The present time is one of great opportunity both in design possibilities and building performance. This is due in part, to the rapid development of new materials and processes primarily in response, or reaction to; energy and environmental drivers. Not since the end of WW2 have we seen such innovation in building materials and finishes.

Some of these products and processes are so different that the physical materials themselves can be key design elements or base ingredients of the concept. Futurist Buckminister Fuller called his dymaxion dwellings "machines for living" and this is a term manifesting itself in the house of today. The future has arrived!
